Car Photography

The auto parts industry would probably prove to be very tenuous if it weren't for the idea that we are working to prolong the life of those that we really love... Our cars. There is a very high prevalence of car lovers in our business. From the people who love to tinker and repair cars, to those who worship their vehicle as a work of art. Auto parts are a cog in the machine of an industry that pays homage to the vehicle. It is a love/hate relationship where we name our cars after old girl friends and then when they betray us we cast them away in much the same manner. At the same time there remains a lingering memory of the good times shared, and over time a diminishment of those that were bad.

Take some advice from this article and spend a little time documenting that vehicle you are currently enamored of. For now it is your obsession, later it will be your bane, but take the time and get a good photograph now so you can look back when everything but fond memories have dissipated.

Pikes Peak Ride Along

I have mentioned RNAP executive Randy Kulamer here before and his penchant for racing. I have even posted footage of a race he was in at Road Atlanta last year. While I have always worried about what would happen if he wrecked, I guess I never really realized how tame running around a track was. Throw in thousand foot drop offs and finally there is something that only a truly insane person would do.

I went on vacation in Colorado a few years ago and took a dirt switchback road up through the Rocky Mountain National Park and can tell you I was almost paralyzed with fear on a few of the turns where I couldn't see the side of the road but could see the valley waaaaaaay down below. It looked as though it would take an hour and a half to hit the ground should I run off the very loose gravel escarpment. Let's just say I was going slower than these guys.

This blog, believe it or not, is designed to help sell more auto parts. While I enjoy sharing automotive related stories and How-To type articles with our customers... at the end of the day, if I am not helping to sell more auto parts, I am not very valuable to my company. With that being said I am occasionally given extra tools to entice customers to buy, TODAY.

I have one of those incentives for you that will be good for the next couple of days. During the checkout process you will see a coupon code box, use the coupon code 6TWIT7 and it will apply an additional 10% off of your already wholesale price. By using the code we can show my bosses the value of advertizing on blogs, Twitter and Facebook; and also prove that I am not just surfing the internet all day. Working on Your Own Car

With the economy the way it is these days, many people are doing everything they can to save money. One of the things we can help with here at Rightnowautoparts.com is by providing real, dealership quality OE auto parts at wholesale pricing. Especially if you are working on an American car, we are your source for GM parts, ACDelco Parts, Ford parts and Motorcraft parts.

It should go without saying, but we always suggest that if you want your car repaired right the very first time, it is best to replace auto parts with the exact same auto parts that came on the car. It just isn't really a money saver if you get the parts for a few percentage points less, but then have to replace them shortly thereafter because the dependability wasn't there. You can be confident that the auto parts you buy from us would be the exact same ones you would get over the parts counter at your local Ford or GM dealership... you will just be saving a ton of money on the purchase price.

Speaking of savings, from now until the end of June you can save an additional 10%, on top of our already wholesale pricing, by using the coupon code 6twit7 during checkout. We are all in this thing together and anything we can do to help we are. Thanks for being such great customers!

The more payment options the better it will be for you because even if they have the most comprehensive online catalogs for every available auto parts in the country, a limited payment option will also restrict your choice of payment. And speaking of browsing catalogs, it is sometimes a lot more practical to go for companies with comprehensive browsing catalogs of AC Delco parts and other parts manufacturers because it is already a guarantee of extensive their services are and the range of auto parts they can offer to you depending on what you really need.

It is also important to check the delivery option. Some suppliers of ACDelco auto parts and other related accessories and equipment often ship orders the same they are placed until five in the afternoon E.S.T. This means you can possibly get what you ordered the following day depending on your location. The shorter the turnaround time, the better because if you are able to choose a company with more than ten warehouses scattered all over the country, you increase your chance of really getting the AC Delco parts you ordered.

Checking for warranty is also important because this will serve as a guarantee that the ACDelco auto parts they are offering passed the standard testing for product quality and reliability. Find out if their check out is really secure and inquire about how long it will take for the ordered parts to arrive. Depending on the quantity and availability of the AC Delco parts you ordered, most companies offer next day delivery while others take at least five days depending on what state the parts will be coming from. You have to understand that every order has its own ups and downs but as long as the company guarantees on time delivery and product replacement should there be some defects on your AC Delco parts once it arrives in your doorstep, it is still a good deal.

Ordering ACDelco auto parts from online suppliers is today’s most convenient way of purchasing auto parts without sacrificing the quality of the products. Staying Safe in the Garage

At Rightnowautoparts.com we have a large following of DIYer's who purchase our auto parts wholesale and then do the installation work themselves. That is truly a big money saver. However, we want to make sure everyone who makes this attempt is doing it safely. I will link to a Popular Mechanics article a little later but let me emphasize one point they make... NEVER get under a car that is up on a floor jack without also using jack stands! While the jack may do the job of lifting a car just fine, there are too many opportunities for something to go wrong for anyone to risk getting crushed under a car while trying to save time.

Now for that link... Popular Mechanics has always been one of my favorite magazines and I am find that it is becoming a go-to site for great stories about car repair and maintenance. Check out this story on Garage Safety, and please be careful when working on your car.

CCC Concept Cars Continued...

One of the fun parts of my job is the constant search for new concept vehicles to share with our followers. With computer aided design, the new works of art are being released quite often these days. Engineering and manufacturing processes have also made it possible to create limited run vehicles that we may not have ever heard of, but would give just about anything to have.

Check out this one from dual designers Sasha Selipanov and Samir Sadikhov named the Incepto GT. Someone needs to grab that design and put it into production... Oh and the BMW concept below needs to be done as well.

DIY Auto Parts Cataloging

While it seems like just yesterday, I have been working here for 15 years now. The auto parts industry has changed light years in that time. In fact most industries have, but let me speak of the one I know. When I began here at Johnson Industries (Parent Company to Rightnowautoparts) most of the parts industry was still using paper catalogs to look up parts. What that took was an expert that knew where each manufacturers catalog was in the rack, and then where that company indexed the particular part needed. It seemed almost cruel the way every company called similar parts by different names, cataloged them in different parts of the book, used different columnar layouts and even included unique quirks such as Air Conditioning O-rings needed to be looked up in the Gasket catalog, etc..

Computers have changed most of these things. Not only have manufacturers needed to move their data to electronic catalogs, but they have learned it is in their best interest to synchronize their part categories and names for ease of look up. We are moving towards a standardized format that will make it much easier to look up auto parts.

Unfortunately we are not at our final destination yet. Because of the aforementioned "quirks" many times it can be very tricky to look up these parts. For example, did you know that many manufacturers of window lift motors have them designed so that the left front motor will also work on the right rear because of a mirror image setup? So what happens if you say you want a window lift motor for the left side on your car? You also need to enter front or back, but may not be asked, and you will get the wrong part unless you "know" of the issue. To compound this issue there are also mistakes made inputting the application data and an incorrect listing may persist until the next monthly update. If everyone was updating their own data it would be repaired quicker, but when compiling the auto parts info from many manufacturers it doesn't make sense to update every time one makes a change.

So where does that leave you, the online auto parts purchaser? The new, powerful, auto parts catalogs are great. They are easy to use, accurate for the most part, and empower the public to walk through a do-it-yourself project of auto repair while saving big money on the auto parts side. There are however those situations where some little known piece of data may cause an error and the wrong car part gets sent. In that case, please work with us by calling 1-888-921-9154 and let one of our parts experts walk through the data with you to get the right part. Most of them have been doing just that for many, many years, and will be more than happy to help you out (for free). Mistakes may happen but we will do everything we can to make it right for you.

GM Module

The Auto parts industry is anything but small. It is a multibillion dollar industry that involves hundreds of manufacturers, suppliers and retailers. Even with the recent decline in the global financial market, the need for cars and car parts has hardly waned. Thousands of cars and auto parts are still being bought every week by people who wish to improve the performance of their vehicles or merely wish to replace worn out parts. If you own a car or plan on owning one soon, it is crucial that you understand how to go about buying the parts for your car correctly.

The alternative is hardly attractive. Remaining ignorant about how to get the best deals for your car parts will leave you potentially exposed to buying inferior car parts at outrageous amounts. Hundreds of people are constantly duped this way every day and have had to suffer low performance results from their mistakes. Getting reliable parts is the only way of preventing this. Don’t buy a random module for your GM. Installing a first rate GM module is the better choice. It goes without saying that the web offers the most convenient way of buying the auto parts that you need for your car. Instead of visiting your local hardware stores and searching through the different parts on display, you can easily search for the same parts online with the use of tools available on the web. For instance, typing in the keywords ‘GM module’ into any search engine will reveal dozens of potential suppliers that you can contact. You can then work with these results in finding a supplier that meets your need.

When checking for the right GM module, your focus will need to be on the credibility of the supplier, the quality of the auto part and the offered cost. Be sure to take into consideration details such as the cost of delivery. It is not uncommon for some vendors to offer really attractive discounts which they later offset with their delivery rates. Most auto part vendors also offer advanced search features within their site that you can use in navigating through the different products that they have available in stock. You’ll therefore be able to find the right Gm module for your car by basing your search on the brand, parts description, parts number or the car in question. However in order for you to benefit from such options you will need to search with the right auto parts company.

One For the Ages

What Kind of Air Filter do I Need?

One of the first things you learn when you begin working in the auto parts industry is that nothing is simple. The next thing you learn is that anyone who is asking your help in looking up auto parts will automatically assume it is simple and get upset with you when you ask several questions to get them the right part.

Automotive engineers seem to be an especially sadistic sort that loves to create options, changes, and supercessions with the express intention of making auto parts hard to look up correctly. Add to that the multitude of people who modify cars from stock and then don't tell the new owner of the changes, and it looks like our parts experts are less than trained.

All that being said, what I would like to ask from our customers is a little patience for the sometimes seemingly redundant questions asked when looking up a part. We have found that it is much better to ask the questions up front to make sure you get the right part, than to just send what is normally used in that application. It saves frustration and time and money with returns and extra orders. The catalog we have online is a good one, but a small percentage of the time the questions get confusing. Our parts experts have access to many more online and paper catalogs and their experience truly helps. If there is ANY question about which auto parts you nedd, please call ... we will be more than happy to help !!

How Does Batman Buy Auto Parts?

We all know that when Bruce Wayne needs his car worked on it would be Alfred that picks up the phone and orders the auto parts for the Rolls Royce (Are they a Rolls or Bentley family?) I kind of think that Alfred would have to be a cross trained Butler/Driver/Cook just to keeps things confidential. But what happens when Batman wants to work on his Sunday driver?

Surely he keeps more than just the Batmobile in that vast Cave are under the mansion? Like the rest of us, he probably has his "work" car and then his "fun" car (not saying the Batmobile isn't fun, but I think you know what I mean). In that context I can see Batman rolling out from under this custom Mustang, grease on the exposed area of his mask, and calling the Ford dealership in Gotham City for a new serpentine belt for his blower(s).

With that in mind I feel it is my duty to let him know that he could save tons of money on those Ford parts by looking up that Motorcraft belt on rightnowautoparts.com. Better yet, since it is obvious those blowers are aftermarket, he would probably need to call 888-921-9154 so one of our auto parts specialist could help him find the correct parts. Our online ordering system would then be used, because it is entirely encrypted and secure, and the car parts would be delivered upstairs to the mansion. I mean, just because he is a millionaire does not mean he doesn't enjoy working on his own cars... there is just something fulfilling about bolting the final auto parts onto your project car and then cranking it up for a drive...

AC Delco Parts at Low Prices Online

AC Delco Parts is owned by General Motors as a fully independently ran subsidiary consisting of AC Spark Plug and United Delco divisions. General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant as a holding company for Buick with plans to acquire other automobile manufacturers of the time. William Durant has been successful as a carriage manufacturer prior to automobiles using similar business tactics, which included creating a separate division for provide the components and raw materials needed to the carriage company. This allowed for the carriage company to always have materials and components available even when competitors faced shortages or increased prices.

In 1908, William Durant along with Albert Champion created the AC Spark Plug Division owned by General Motors as part of Durant’s business philosophy to provide materials and equipment to Buick at affordable costs. General Motors began to grow quickly and was able to obtain Oldsmobile before the end of 1908 and Cadillac, and the divisions which would become known as Pontiac and GMC Trucks in 1909. William Durant lost controlling interest in GM in 1910 and went off to found Chevrolet with Louis Chevrolet in 1911. AC Delco parts were not available, yet but the creation of Durant’s vision would be forthcoming shortly.

With the success of the Chevrolet brand of automobiles, Durant was able to resume control of General Motors in 1916 adding Chevrolet to the General Motors lines of automobiles. It was during this time that Durant also created the United Motors Corporation from profits earned from Chevrolet. United Motors Corporation consisted of individual companies, each providing different parts, materials and components for use in manufacturing automobiles. United Motors was not owned by GM and could offer AC Delco parts to any automobile manufacturer.

General Motors remedied this situation by purchasing United Motors for $45 million in 1918 and making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Now GM had two divisions which could provide the majority of parts for all of its line of automotive products as well as replacement parts exclusively for GM models. The Delco name was born from the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company which was part of the original United Motors Corporation. The Delco name had gained so much popularity with consumers that in 1971 GM renamed the division United Delco. Consumers were able to obtain AC and Delco parts for the GM brand automobiles.

Due to economic conditions and in efforts to cut expenses, combine operations and provide better marketing of products, General Motors combined the AC and Delco parts divisions in 1974. This strategy better aligned the two divisions by merging them together since consumers were already obtaining parts from each division and now could do so with having to place only one order instead of two separate parts orders.

AC Delco parts are available still today from Rightnowautoparts.com, at reasonable prices. The company also offers free shipping on orders over $75 and same day shipping. For more information, assistance or to place an order, call 888-921-9154.

Just Another 100MPG Fantasy?

Jonathan Goodwin is a Gearhead and designer that is already producing the "Next Thing" in automotive excellence. Now before you write him off as another fly-by-night fluke check out this article from Fast Company. Also consider this, the technology he was using in this 2007 article is the very same technology that Jaguar is trying to fit into it's new concept CX75 75th anniversary edition. The issue seems to be safety as the basic design which takes a turbine jet engine to hyper charge a capacitor type battery which then powers an electric motor for propulsion. It works, but still has not been refined enough for general production, by Goodwin or Jaguar.

The good thing about leading edge technology is that it pulls back the curtain a bit for other engineers to get a glimpse of, and then maybe the next guy is the one who perfects the simplified design. Hopefully very soon someone will work out the details of a super capacitor battery (can be charged in seconds but supply power over a longer period) or the turbine engines safety (can burn all types of fuel including biodiesel at extremely efficient and eco-friendly levels). Until then, let's continue to applaud the imagination of designers like Jonathan Goodwin.

Prepare for the 2012 Zombie-Pocalypse

Many theories about how our run here on earth will end fall into the "How will those left deal with the anarchy?" From Will Smith in "I am Legend" to Mel Gibson in "Mad Max" and many, many more, there is always a need for "The Vehicle". Some people opt for the ultra armored militaristic SUV (see below), others choose the flexibility of a motorcycle, and then there are those whose vision includes long stretches of barren and open road. I am thinking the Lamborghini (above) would be a good option for the latter. Just make sure you keep a solar operated pump in the back so you can stop occasionally at the abandoned gas stations and pump the fuel out of the underground gas tanks.

Now that that is solved let's move on to which weapon would be best...

Automotive Links

I came across the automotive logos page in Stumbleupon and thought it was pretty cool to be able to view that vast array of logos with links to each of the manufacturers. It led me to include a couple of extra links in this post. Which logo do you think is the image I included? The third is a list of auto parts from Wikipedia. It was interesting to me, but I am a little unique...

There is a Synergy There...

Somehow there seems to be a relationship between cars and watches. Beyond the fact that I am a real fan of both, it just seems that the entire category of each has a correlative to the other. If you just want a functional (Car/Watch) their are brands that specialize in that. If you feel that a (Car/Watch) is a prestige item, someone is willing to allow you to fork over tons of dollars to appease your desire.

Then there is the purely aesthetic feel of a beautiful work of art that is highly complex and functions flawlessly. If you feel I am reaching a bit on this one, check out this website; carsandwatches.com. Here is an article from roadandtrack.com on the same subject... and here is another from askmen.com referencing watches specifically designed as tribute to a particular classic car.

Finally, it just seems that both cars and watches have the ability to bond with a mans spirit and personify those attributes he desires to highlight. We may not all agree with the combination, but there is no disputing that men find confidence in the strangest places sometimes (and I am speaking of myself here). Check with any mans significant other and see if that is not true...

The Truth About Bin Laden- Retold

Somehow I am more comfortable with this version... of the story and Obama. This guy could sell auto parts to a lost tribe of Indians in the Amazon rainforest.

How Much Do You Love GM?

At Rightnowautoparts.com we are an authorized ACDelco parts wholesale warehouse distributor. What that means is that we buy GM parts directly from the GM parts warehouses and stock them in our regional auto parts warehouses. The line between which GM parts are designated ACDelco parts and which GM parts that can only be sold directly to the GM dealerships changes monthly, but the percentages stay around 30% ACDelco parts to 70% GM parts.

The reason we have the contract with GM ACDelco is to make sure the faster moving ACDelco parts are closer to the GM dealerships and mechanics shops that are working on a customers car "today". If your car is up on a rack and needs tune up parts, it is quicker to get them on our ACDelco parts delivery trucks locally than it is to order them from the GM parts warehouse. Since ACDelco parts are the fastest moving/selling items, it just makes sense to try to stock them in a parts warehouse in the same local region.

Since a high percentage of our sales do involve ACDelco parts, we love GM. Our paychecks are highly reflective of how many of their GM parts we can move each day. Heck, I probably own 15 different ACDelco Parts baseball caps, and wear them at least weekly if not daily. But as much as I love GM, I do not believe I would have a Chevy Bow Tie logo tattooed to the back of my bald head. I guess that is just me. I am not a fan of tattoos in general, and really don't think I would ever allow myself to be permanently "branded" like that. GM parts are great... GM tattoos, not so much.

Rightnowautoparts.com

P.S. Do you like that double meaning on "branded" I used there... pretty slick, huh?
