Buy Your Own Custom Tron Light Cycle

If they can make this maybe they can build a Millennium Falcon... or maybe that broom Harry Potter rides on? Better yet, have they ironed that fly thing out of the Transporter Beam yet? Read the story at Jalopnik.com

Post number 200 for Rightnowautoparts.com

When I started this blog I warned that it would be mainly about cars, but sometimes about "just random things I find interesting". This post falls squarely in the latter category. If you are a football fan of any type, and unless you have 30 spare minutes to kill, I might suggest saving this link from Asylum.com for when you get home.

Amazing Football Trick Plays...

2014 Porsche Cajun

The new Porshe Cajun is scheduled for production beginning late 2013 for the 2014 model year. Final details are yet to be ironed out but I hear it will come with an optional oversized cooler in the cargo area...

Mustang Station Wagon

Jalopnik remains one of my favorite sources for interesting, quirky, car guy stories. This one caught my eye because of the ultimate audacity glimpsed in the picture... "Oh My God, What is that?". Click through to their story if you feel the same as me. Jalopnik Mustang Wagon?

62.8 MPG VW Scirocco, Is that right?

Here is a link to autocar.com based on vehicles in Europe. Can someone please tell me why the best you can get from them in the U.S. is 42 MPG?

Land Yacht

I received a group of photos in an e-mail showing the ultimate in 18 wheeler based mobile mansions. Three stories high and double wide after the stabilizer jacks and hydraulic lifts are expanded. It reminds me of several I have gotten over the years highlighting luxury yachts from around the world. Now my plan is... I will build a large enough luxury yacht/ship to accomodate this 18 wheeler based motor home (along with several super cars, boats, etc.) then I will set off on my around the world cruise. Does that sound like a plan? Hopefully they will give me an extended leave from my job...

Mooneyes by Bill Dutting

I love good car photography, especially when the car is unique or one of a kind. A beautiful photo of this car is located behind my link entitled "Mooneyes" after the car name but I am pretty sure that is RacerX in there driving.

Should I have traded for this 69 SS Chevelle?

When I was about 19, still in college and not really all that wise (understatement), I was presented with one of the largest decisions of my life. I worked at a gas station when I wasn't in class or at one of the local night clubs. One day a guy was having the front end of his 1969 SS Chevelle 454 rebuilt by one of our mechanics. Yes youngsters, gas stations used to be full service AND had bays for mechanical work. Anyway... he took a look at my recently painted 1966 Ford Mustang coupe and offered to trade me straight up. I still struggle to this day on whether I made the correct decision when I opted to keep the Mustang. They were (are) both beautiful examples of the golden age of American sportscars. Maybe I should have traded just so that I could say I had owned both? Who knows...

Tribute to the Lamborghini Murcielago

In gathering information to share on this blog I have slowly developed a stable of favorite sites to share. Up until this point I have found that when it is time to find another beautiful photo of an interesting and rare vehicle, chrisoncars.com has been my go-to web page. Today I read his tribute piece on the recent retirement of the Lamborghini Murcielago and found that his writing is as beautiful as the photos he consistently shares. Do yourself a favor and read this history piece about how each of these vehicles found their names. It is most interesting and artfully shared.

The Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept

Later today at the LA Auto Show, Cadillac will unveil it's newest concept to the ever growing line-up of new ultra compact vehicles from around the world. From the looks of this car there will be room for four people and plenty of the comforts we have come to expect from Cadillac. This time it will just be in a very small, well designed package. EcoMotors OPOC Engine Technology

We were speaking this morning in the office about new engine designs, versus hybrids, versus clean diesel, versus full electric vehicles. I believe we will begin seeing more of the OPOC engine design in the near future as we move towards some combination of all of the aforementioned technologies. The next decade will be an exciting time for the automotive industry... Special thanks again to thetruthaboutcars.com for their coverage on this topic.

Korean Car Manufacturers

Recently the heads of both Volkswagen and Hyundai have pledged to become the worlds largest manufacturer (i.e. sales) of new vehicles in the next few years. I am putting my money on the Koreans. Read this article by thetruthaboutcars.com that highlights the industry in the small Asian country, and how they have fared over the last few, painful years. Pay special attention to the charts, they are eye opening to say the least. Also, remember we now carry OE replacement parts for Hyundai, KIA and Daewoo right here at rightnowautoparts.com.

2010 LA Auto Show

I am adding the link here for the 2010 LA Auto Show that is opening today. Big auto shows like this one typically open up with World or North American debuts for production and concept vehicles. The technology and design elements have been changing extremely fast recently so it is good to stay in touch. I personally like the new 2011 Chrysler 200; a beautiful car with great gas mileage.

Muscle Car Heaven

I was out of town last week for several days (code name: in the woods) and missed one of the most important auto auctions in recent history. Milton Robson is an Icon in the Gainesville, Georgia area (where I actually live) and he sold off his amazing muscle car collection over the weekend. I wish I had been there just to watch. Heres the link to an article in the NY Times. Here is the after auction article from the Atlanta Journal constitution.

Get Ready For Christmas...

Over the years it has been interesting to watch people lose their minds over fad items that are "must haves" for Christmas. This is an interesting article about a few of the most news worthy. It remains to be seen what this year may bring. I personally believe the recent economic crisis has brought a little more reality to most people, but then again, I have been surprized by peoples seeming mindless consumerism in the past.

If you are looking for me, just remember the words Tesla and Four seat UTV for numbers one and two on my list.

Scary Story About "Sleep Driving"

I have to admit I have a real problem with this between the hours of 2PM-4PM, anytime after midnight and whenever politicians are speaking on TV. Read this article from Consumer Reports on how prevalent the issue is, and what can be done to help avoid it.

Ever heard Of Ordos, China?

There was a car show in Ordos, China recently. In the middle of the desolate Mongolia region. You would be amazed at what is going on there. If there is ever a benefit to state run government I guess it would be for something like this... Pick a location to grow into, build the entire infrastructure including businesses, housing, parks, museums, etc.. Then provide incentives to move people from the saturated regions into the new, unbounded regions where growth is possible.

Talladega Wreck

It is amazing how bad the Nascar Wrecks have gotten and how few people are actually hurt badly or killed when the action is over. Cudos to the safety standards!
