Beautiful 1946 Chevrolet Suburban!

What a great looking SUV, from before the term was even coined. Detroit turned out some serious steel back in the day! When this truck rolled off the assembly line, the parent company of rightnowautoparts.com had been providing parts to GM dealerships for 20 years!!

Spectacular Crashes of 2010

Many people would privately admit that one of the main reasons for their fascination with racing is the possibility of "The Big Wreck". Well here is a compilation of some of the most amazing from 2010... That should save some time.

6 Wheel Cars Aren't a New Idea...

This Panther 6 from 1977 sports a 6 wheel (4 in the front) design that looks very much like the new version I posted earlier today. I am just not sure what the perceived benefits might be. I see more weight, more complications, more cost and less feel... but maybe that is what they were going for? Thanks to Classicandperformancecar.com for the pictures and article.

1961 Jaguar E-Type

Many cars have portions that are beautiful. Some are perfect down to the last bolt and stitch. Artful lines and powerful impressions are a large part of the auto lovers reasons for passion. Few have met the high level set by the Jaguar E-Type. The work of art seems to have been designed for the museum as well as the road. (Can you tell it is one of my favorites?) Click through to this article and read about the classic...

Somebody's playing with Photoshop again...

This article from Jalopnik / Wired highlights a new concept vehicle with 4 wheels in front and two in the back. Now I do believe there are applications for this type of thing (Trucks and SUV's that are off road constantly), I don't think the pseudo-Lambo is the right idea. "It helps protect occupants in frontal carshes"... really? I think the truth may be that Goodyear is slipping them some money under the table to try to promote the idea for additional tire sales in the future. They obviously have tons of money because that guy who invented the nano-kevlar-lifetime tire seems to have been eradicated.

Audi Quattro- Concept or Reality

2011 Silverado HD

Great advertising campaign for the new 2011 Silverado HD. Several videos, pictures, an IPhone AP and Game (OK those are useless), but overall a very imaginative production!

I'd probably last about...

Take a look at these beautiful three wheel vehicles hand made in Canada for a mere $50K. You could flip a coin as to which way you would die... Run over by a car or truck that "didn't see it", or in the trees about 80 feet off the side of the road (Because it didn't quite make that 25MPH curve at 147MPH). Either way, I would give it about a week.

Blog post for Joe Bradley

Joe, Looking at the box you returned I believe I see the issue. It appears that someone in our shipping department placed the Fedex Ground shipping label directly over the ACDelco label that would have eased your mind regarding authenticity. I am including a video where I show the label underneath and then a couple of pictures from our warehouse showing the genuine product, on the shelf and opened, to make sure it is the same. I believe you will agree that we did ship the real thing... We have spoken with the shipping department to make sure they understand not to do this again. I am going to use our returns process to refund a small portion of the purchase price anyway. Hopefully you will feel that we have done everything we can to accomodate your worries. Feel free to call me if you have any further questions.

Solar Roadways?

Here is another solution to our growing need for energy. Just imagine some of the additional expansions of this idea, constant battery charging, overhead road lights, feeding extra energy to the grid, etc.. Something like this, or a myriad of ideas growing and combining will have the ability to transform our economy out of the energy age and into the next.

Here's something to do...

It may snow here in Atlanta this weekend so I was looking for some good ways to optimize the experience... What do you think?

Worse than the Mustang Station Wagon

Another classic fail from Jalopnik.com. Creativity truly has many facets... (full disclosure- none of the auto parts used to create this instant classic were purchased from Rightnowautoparts.com)

1965 Cadillac Sedan DeVille

I found this story at OldCarsWeekly.com from their Twitter post. I really need to figure out a way to start looking for an old car like this in my spare time. I love almost all of the cars from the 60's, and if beautiful cars like this one with less than 25,000 miles are still out there, I need to find one for myself. We sell most of the auto parts that may be needed to mechanically fix classics like this (and I can get a deal on them) Click the link and Oooh and Ahhh over the spectacular Caddy!

Church Lady Sayings...

These aren't auto parts related but they are funny none the less..

Those wonderful Church Bulletins! Thank God for church ladies with typewriters. These sentences (with all the BLOOPERS) actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services:
--------------------------
The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
--------------------------
The sermon this morning: 'Jesus Walks on the Water.' The sermon tonight: 'Searching for Jesus.'
--------------------------
Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
--------------------------
Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say 'Hell' to someone who doesn't care much about you.
--------------------------
Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.
--------------------------
Miss Charlene Mason sang 'I will not pass this way again,' giving obvious pleasure to the congregation...
--------------------------
For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
--------------------------
Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
--------------------------
Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.
--------------------------
A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow.
--------------------------
At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be 'What Is Hell?' Come early and listen to our choir practice
--------------------------
Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.
--------------------------
Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.
--------------------------
Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.
--------------------------
The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility.
--------------------------
Potluck supper Sunday at 5:00 PM - prayer and medication to follow.
--------------------------
The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.
--------------------------
This evening at 7 PM there will be a hymn singing in the park across from the Church. Bring a blanket and come prepared to sin.
--------------------------
Ladies Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10 AM. All ladies are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the B. S. is done.
--------------------------
The pastor would appreciate it if the ladies of the Congregation would lend him their electric girdles for the pancake breakfast next Sunday.
--------------------------
Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM. Please use the back door.
-------------------------
The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Church basement Friday at 7 PM. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.
--------------------------
Weight Watchers will meet at 7 PM at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.
--------------------------
The Associate Minister unveiled the church's new campaign slogan last Sunday: "I Upped My Pledge - Up Yours"

Junkyard Finds

Cool forum about Junkyard finds. We don't sell used parts here at rightnowautoparts.com but I find the junkyard search priciples really fascinating. This might be what I would do if asked the question... "If you had a billion dollars would you still go to work?" I just think it would be cool to find unique cars and make them workable again. Imagine your favorite old car or truck with a completely new custom interior and sound system powered by a next generation electric hybrid setup (I'm thinking an older model Jaguar). It would actually be quite a green process, but probably not a money maker.

Flying Car

Is this the battery quantum leap we are looking for?

This article from FastCompany.com may highlight the research we have been waiting on. Apparently a virus of many plant species called the tobacco mosaic is being incorporated into lithium batteries and will allow 10 times the battery life (or the same life at 1/10th the size). Think about how a combination of the two integrated with new hybrid or electric vehicle design would revolutionize how we commute. Batteries either weigh too much or don't last long enough. Let's hope this will be the breakthrough we need.

Icy Road Car Pinball

So it's about 25 degrees here in Atlanta and forecasts are starting to call for snow. Around here people absolutely lose their minds when there is any icy precipitation... apparently it is not unique. We just don't have as many opportunities to watch the idiots as those in more northern climates. The good news is that batteries will die, radiators will freeze and auto parts sales will go on a rampage.

America Loves GM Again?

Here is a post from thecarconnection.com that highlights a recent survey. It looks like things may be looking up for GM and their public perception. I have to say first that I am surprised, but at the same time I am happy and quite a bit relieved. We sell OE GM ACDelco Parts so the more cars sold, the better for us... Go GM, and Go Ford as well (we sell Motorcraft also).

Choosing a Mechanic

I found this article at moneyfunk.net that explains a few items needed when considering who you should trust to work on your car. I would like to add one item to the list. Ask the mechanic or shop owner their views on bringing your own parts. Whether they agree or not, you will gain valuable insight into their business ethics by listening to the response. If they sound arrogant and exclusive in their views you may want to steer clear. There should always be some flexibility in this area because some jobs are just honestly too costly without creativity.

Even though we sell parts over the internet for mechanics and DIYers to install, I would agree that inferior quality to save money puts everyone in a bad situation. However, if you are getting OE parts at a savings and can then afford to do the repair, everyone wins. The main thing comes down to who can you trust to help you do what is best for you. Honest repairs will cost money, but will probably keep you safe and on the road.

Where to buy this 1970 Plymouth Superbird

Thanks to motor74.com for the picture and the link to the Charlotte dealer who is selling this beauty... and many more. I think it would be cool to work at a place that markets and sells amazing muscle cars like the ones I have seen on their site. Check it out at http://www.rk-motors.com/

Honda CRX Turbo Coming Soon!

The concept vehicle shown at SEMA this year from Honda seems like it may actually make it to production. While the CRZ Hybrid is a great looking vehicle, many have been asking for an increase in performance while attempting to keep as much of the fuel efficiency as possible. The turbo version seems to be the way Honda will be looking to satisfy that demand. The Honda CRX remains a gold standard for fun and MPG, and it looks like Honda is going back to try to reproduce that in this new model. I for one really like the looks of the exterior design and have always been a fan of Honda engineering. Click here to read a full report from Autoguide.com ...

The Path Less Taken...

My daughter had a paper to write for her college literature class on Robert Frost's famous poem. My son's birthday was last weekend and I got him a book called "Do Hard Things". (A great book for teenagers by the way) Then there is this quote I wrote down last year about the slothfulness I see all around me these days... "There are two types of people, those that see problems as impassable roads and those that seek out the rough roads and relish in conquering them."

When you combine those things, along with the picture I found this morning of a Bass Pro Shops / Toyota Tundra Concept vehicle... Well it just seems that things are conspiring to get me into the woods. If you need to contact me for some reason you better make it fast. I am about to start arranging for someone to cover for me for a few days...
