Morgan Threewheeler

Read about this beautiful car at wired.com in their autopia section. It looks like it will be a lot of fun to drive and the drive shaft is a rubber belt... I could probably even work on that.

Accessories at the Dealership

A new article released by aftermarketbusiness.com highlights another positive trend for new auto dealers trying to wring as much profit as possible from the sales cycle. It seems that offering accessories at the point of sale is a new and fast growing segment. Anything that helps people pull the trigger on purchasing a new vehicle, and feeling good about it, is a positive in my book.

100 MPH Goat

Two Tennessee rednecks are out hunting, and as they are
walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground.
They approach it and are amazed by the size of it.

The first hunter says, "Wow, that's some hole;
I can't even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is."

The second hunter says," I don't know, let's throw something
down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom."

The first hunter says, "There's this old automobile transmission here,
give me a hand and we'll throw it in and see".

So they pick it up and carry it over, and count one, and
two and three, and throw it in the hole.

They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and
they hear a rustling in the brush behind them.

As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush,
run up to the hole and with no hesitation, jump in head first.

While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole
and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up.

"Say there," says the farmer, "you fellers didn't happen to see my goat
around here anywhere, did you?"

The first hunter says, " Funny you should ask, but we were just standing
here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin'
about a hunert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!"

The old farmer said, "That's impossible,
I had him chained to a transmission!"

Ford vs. Ferrari v.2

I was kind of joking a few weeks ago when I posted my comparisons between the F150 and the F150 . So it took me by surprise to see this blog posting on the cnn.com money page...

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Ford made it very clear to Italian sports car maker Ferrari, that the name "F150" means a truck -- not a racecar. Faced with a lawsuit over the matter, Ferrari backed down.

Ferrari had named its new Formula 1 racecar the F150, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Italy's unification. But the name tag already has a strong following on one of the best-selling vehicles in America -- the Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand - movie trailer

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand is a brick of a book, weighing in at over 1000 pages. Conservatives have for years pointed to it as a fearfully insightful depiction of the future that is now. Much like George Orwell's 1984 and the "Big Brother" imagery that is playing out before our eyes, this book is depressingly accurate in todays present. While trying to convince someone to read a 1000 page book would be hard in any arena, the actual people who need to hear the message are exactly the ones who can't be bothered to "read" anything. Hopefully this three part movie will be viewed by enough people, and open their eyes wide enough, to keep us from the Rand inferenced end game. I however harbor no expectations. As the book, and now the movie, suggests... political, economic and social obsolescence are upon us.

Entertaining SUV Review from NYT

Ok, you say... "What do you mean, Entertaining Vehicle Review"? Those of us in the car business make it a practice to slog through as many new car reviews as we can stand just to say we have a modicum of industry knowledge. Remember when you were a kid and tried to hold your breath for about 18 seconds longer than humanly possible, and then almost threw up as you flopped your spent body on the pools apron to recover? That is what most auto reviews are like... This review written by Ezra Dyer is refreshingly entertaining. Congratulations for bringing the E word back to auto journalism!

Automotive Advice For Women

Those of us who have been in the automotive industry for decades sometimes forget that servicing your vehicle can be a confusing and expensive transaction without the knowledge of standards. Somehow this information just seems to get folded into many discussions and interactions in the world of men, but it is not always obvious to women. That is not a condescending comment, just a fact of life that needs to be addressed.

I have found a wonderful site that helps to fill in that informational gap, and is directed totally towards women. Askpatty.com is a great web page to help educate women about the complex and bewildering segment called automotive repair. If you are a woman, add this site to your favorites. If you are a man... I bet you could learn a thing or two as well.

Beautiful photos of a 1960 Cadillac from Austinspeedshop.com .

Somebody is Gonna Get Kilt

There is a long tradition of maniacs that constantly push the envelope of land and speed records. Follow this link to a story from Autopia.com about a team that is looking to break 1000MPH ON LAND (That's less than a 5 second mile). Let's hope somebody's cat doesn't decide to run out in front of them because I don't think swerving would be good. Like I have been saying for a long time... Release the transporter device from Area 51 already before someone get's killed. Not to mention, it would REALLY cut down on our delivery times here at rightnowautoparts.com.

My Momma Said ...

Sometimes it is best to just look, cock your head... and crack a wry grin. I am pretty sure everyone else is thinking the same thing so I will just leave it alone.

New Auto Based Game Graphics

Warning- The following diatribe (otherwise known as a Florida District Court Ruling) is representative of my views alone and does not in any way reflect those of my employer (that I know of). Hold me personally accountable if you disagree but keep buying parts from rightnowautoparts.com because that building and the parts therein do not really care about political views.

1963 Suburban

Sometimes the right vehicle comes along and you develop an obsession. I have admired the classic lines of old Suburbans for years. The problem is that most of them are either rusting in the junkyards back 40, or have been restored to an astronomical price. This one is done perfectly and needs to have my name stamped on the title... Now who will hand over the cash? It is available at Hemmings and you can call me at rightnowautoparts.com for the shipping address.

I have gotten away from the photos of beautiful cars so here you go... 1972 Plymouth Barracuda.

What happens after hunting season?

I take pride in my efforts every season to cut down on the dangerous situations that would arise from hungry deer. Once the grass and trees are all munched to the ground they would have to find another food source. If it weren't for hunters like myself there would be many more missing toddlers in the suburbs. Deer would be much worse than zombies... they are fast. Watch out for the glowing eyes.

DUI on a sky-jack

I may just create a sub group of videos for drunk people being arrested for driving under the influence on "other than" auto or truck. It is fun to watch them pretend like they have everything under control, when it is obvious they don't even know where they are... We may not have the parts for this vehicle at rightnowautoparts.com but we use them daily to pull parts. Hopefully our employees are more aware than this guy?
