Fisker Karma Impressive Numbers 403HP, 125MPH, 100 MPG, 300 mile range

The Fisker Karma is the world’s first premium plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). It combines world-class luxury and sports car-like performance with industry-leading economy and zero tailpipe emissions. The four-seat sedan was designed by Fisker Automotive CEO Henrik Fisker, who also designed the Aston Martin DB9 and BMW Z8, both of which were featured in James Bond movies.
With 403hp it can reach 60mph in six seconds and a top speed of 125mph, yet it can achieve more than 100mpg on an annual basis. The Karma has a total range of 300 miles, 50 of which are electric-only and powered by a Lithium-ion battery from A123 Systems, which can be fully recharged in as little as eight hours.

See the Fisker Karma on their Nationwide tour that began Tuesday, April 27.

When is the last time you checked your oil?

Car Manufacturers have decided that we are, as a whole, becoming too lazy to open the hood and check our own Oil level. Cars and trucks have become so well engineered that it really has become much less an issue than it was while I was growing up. I can still remember the mechanic speaking with my father about my Chevy Nova saying, "As long as he replaces the oil as quickly as it leaks out he may never need to have an actual oil change." If nothing is wrong checking the oil may seem irrelevant, but if something does go wrong you can quickly cause a very expensive problem. Do yourself a favor and check the oil. It gives you a chance to quickly check the rest of your underhood area for other potential problems as well. By the way, if you find you need something under there... give us a call!

New Ford Start coming soon... Can you say Mini?

Ford is calling this "Purely a design study with no plans for production..." But I can see it fitting in well with the emerging technologically advanced offerings from Ford. This article from autoblog.com does a good job of describing their new entry from the Bejing auto show.

Is Nitrogen Really Better Than Regular Air For Tires?

With more and more tire and service shops offering Nitrogen tire filling as an option, many are wondering is it worth the money? This article from Popular Mechanics offers a good look into many of the questions people have. My personal opinion is that if you are willing to spend the money on upgraded tires and wheels for your car, then having Nitrogen to optimize tire pressure, minimize corrosion and even to some extent increase gas mileage only makes good sense.

Automobiles as Art

Many car lovers already know this, but in case you are not aware... Some classic cars rival any type of artwork you might imagine. They can be static pieces of statuary, rolling works of mechanical beauty and sought after pieces for private collections. Occasionally they are displayed in an appropriate venue. Currently you can visit this breathtaking display in the home town of Rightnowautoparts.com at the Atlanta High Museum of Art Car Show.

Is "Affordable Luxury Car" an Oxymoron?

Big four-doors like the Mercedes-Benz S550 or BMW 750Li, which can cost $100,000 or more, carry a palpable measure of prestige. But for half or even a third as much, one can buy a large luxury sedan with many of the same features, from powerful engines and passenger video screens to cruise control that automatically slows the car when traffic gets thick.

Drive an American Car !!

Ford Full WIFI Rolling Hot Spot

Ford Full Wi-Fi Access will make models equipped with this option mobile hotspots. The main screen in the vehicle will only be functional when the vehicle is stopped and in park, but occupants with laptops (children in the back seat) will still have full access. This may actually put and end to "Are we there yet?"

Is Ford Sync a Game Changer?

While it seems that GM and Chrysler have been floundering, you have to be impressed with the changes coming from Ford Motor Company. I firmly believe the other American car companies are also changing as well... but more than car design, it seems technology will be the new differentiator. I am excited to see some real exciting things coming from Detroit, finally!
